And now let’s go to the recipe 👇
It is necessary:
150 ml of milk
1 teaspoon of sugar
25g of fresh yeast
2 eggs
80 ml of oil
150 ml of yogurt, 1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 baking powder
600-650g of plain flour
For coating:
80g of butter
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon of milk
For sprinkling:
Sesame and poppy seeds
Procedure:
1) Add sugar to lukewarm milk and crush the yeast. We wait about 10 minutes for the yeast to activate.
Pour the yeast into the mixing bowl, add oil, yogurt, and salt. Break 2 eggs and add baking powder. Add sifted flour, part by part. We mix first with a blender, and then when we add enough flour, we knead by hand. Knead until the dough stops sticking to your hands.
Cover the dough and leave it in a warm place for about 1 hour to rise.
2) After 1 hour, the dough has filled the bowl to the top. Place it on a floured surface and knead it a little. Divide the dough into five parts, shape it into balls and let it rest a little longer.
3) Using a rolling pin, roll out the first rectangular ball measuring 20×30 cm and about 5 mm thick.
We stretch the second ball to the same dimensions.
Spread one part of the dough liberally with butter and cover it with the other part of the dough. We don’t smear him with butter.
Cut strips about 1 cm wide on both sides of the dough. Let’s cross them towards the middle as shown in the video.
4) Line a 25cm diameter baking tin with parchment paper and place the braid in the tin.
Let’s make another braid in the same way. We put it in the mold and put the ends together.
5) Thin out the last part of the dough measuring 10×30 cm and cut it into three strips. We weave the strips into a braid and roll it into a ball. Place the ball in the middle of the cake and cover it to rise before baking.
After about 20 minutes, brush the cake with beaten egg yolk and a spoonful of milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds and poppy seeds.
6) Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 35-40 minutes
