When we think of Haleem, what comes to mind is a rich, meaty, slow-cooked delicacy, especially famous during Ramadan. But here’s a modern twist — Veg Haleem, created for vegetarians and health-conscious food lovers, while preserving the essence and soul of traditional Haleem.

History:
Haleem originally came from the Middle East, brought to India with Persian influences. Over time, Hyderabadi Haleem became iconic, especially as a festive dish. But the story of Haleem didn’t stop there — as cultures evolved, so did this dish, adapting to new ingredients and ideas.

Fusion Concept:
This Veg Haleem is a blend of ancient grains like wheat, jowar (sorghum), and bajra (pearl millet), cooked slowly with a mix of vegetables such as carrots, beans, and okra. To recreate the richness and texture of meat-based Haleem, we add nut paste, spices, and a final garnish of microgreens and crushed pepper for that gourmet touch.

The result is a nutritious, delicious, and soulful dish, carrying the heritage of Haleem but made lighter, healthier, and suitable for everyone!

  • Sanjay babu, similar preparation is made by aga khani muslims (they are also known as khojas) using mutton. They use soaked wheat but not grounded. They call it kichada. It's regular dish available in bhendi bazar, Mumbai during Ramadan. But what you showed was very innovative.god bless you.where is your better half Gayatri. ?
