#11 Cooking with food scraps | Roasting our coffee | Carob Buns & Cozy Treats 🌊🍊☕
🏡 Welcome to my home in the South of Spain! In this episode, we dive into a week full of meaningful, slow-living moments as we embrace the charm of autumn while preparing for the festive season. 🌿✨ Although many are already in full Christmas mode, we’re taking our time, savoring each day, and focusing on creativity, family, and the beauty of seasonal life.
This week, I took care of some long-overdue projects:
☕ Roasted our very first batch of homegrown coffee beans—a journey that started in Episode #10 and ended with the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans.
🥥 Shelled macadamia nuts from our tree—a peaceful task for a quiet afternoon, with a little help from my dog, Lenda, and my cat, Ceniza.
🍊 Prepared candied tangerine peels from food scraps—transforming what would have been discarded into a delicious, zesty treat.
🥖 Baked carob buns, sweetened naturally with candied tangerine, for a satisfying homemade delight.
🌊 Took time to walk along the serene beach while my daughter attended her weekend tournament.
Of course, life in the kitchen is a central theme this week. I cooked a comforting lasagna, made a warm and nutritious broth using leftover vegetable scraps and roasted bones, and experimented with seasonal fruits like Longan, tangerines, and one of the last mangoes from our harvest. These moments of creation and sustainability are at the heart of this week’s video. 🌸
📖 A special read this week: I began “How to Train Your Human” by Babas—a whimsical book recommended by my daughter. Written from a cat’s perspective, it offers a charming and funny look at life with our feline companions.
✨ Crafting also made its way into the week with homemade luffas. I harvested and prepared these eco-friendly sponges, perfect for washing dishes and for self-care. These simple yet rewarding tasks remind me of the joy in doing things by hand and living sustainably.
Each segment of this video is a gentle invitation to slow down, cherish the little things, and find joy in the everyday. Whether it’s the smell of freshly roasted coffee, the sound of waves on a calm beach, or the warmth of a hearty homemade meal, I hope these moments inspire you to create your own slice of tranquility. 🌿
Thank you for being here with me, and don’t forget to subscribe to join me next week for a special Christmas episode! 🎄💫

Wow! I learned so much watching this video! You are so ambitious! Honestly, you are the first person I have ever seen roasting her own coffee beans! I have made candied orange peels before, but not like you do. I also want to compliment you on your extremely soft background music. I'd much rather hear the true music, your voice and laughter over some sorry music used to fill in the silence. Loved this, and I'll return for your next video! 😊
Beautiful and relaxing as usual! By the way my mom, sister and niece are also watching you 😉
