This MISSISSIPPI POT ROAST STANDS OUT From Others | Gluten Free Mississippi Pot Roast Recipe
I feel that everyone has a Mississippi Pot Roast Recipe. Ingredient wise, mine isn’t much difference from the others, other than the swap from a brown gravy mix to a gluten free brown gravy mix.
What sets this one apart from the others and makes it stand out are these simple steps that don’t take a lot of effort and even stretch the recipe a little farther. Here are my tips
*Tip 1*
Use a Roast from 1.5lbs to 4lbs – Most recipes tell you to use a certain size roast. This recipe works for this range of weight without any issues
*Tip 2*
Season the roast with salt and pepper and sear for 4-5 minutes per side over medium-high heat in your oil of choice. This will give the roast some color and extra flavor from the caramelization and browning.
*Tip 3*
Melt the butter and mix it with the gravy and ranch mixes. This gives both the butter and dry mixes a head start in flavoring the roast. The butter doesn’t have to melt in the slow cooker and the dry mixes can start flavoring the butter and roast.
*Tip 4*
Add your desired amount of Pepperoncini to the roast and a few tablespoons of the juice for extra flavor.
*Tip 5*
Don’t throw away the liquid! It’s full of FLAVOR!!! Pour the liquid left in the slow cooker into a container and chill overnight. The next day, the fat will have separated and solidified to the top of the container. Remove the fat and freeze the remaining liquid. Use the liquid as part of your next beef soup or stew recipe, diluting with broth as needed.
