Makes 8-10
1 cup masoor dal, soaked
Water as required
1 onion, finely chopped
8-10 beans, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely chopped
1 inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
4-5 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp jeera powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp aamchur powder
Black salt to taste
1-2 tsp oil
Add the soaked masoor dal to a pressure cooker with salt & a little water, only 1 inch above the dal. Pressure cook for 2 whistles. The dal should be cooked through & dry. In a pan, heat oil. Add ginger, garlic, green chillies & saute for a minute. Add the onions & cook till it slightly browns. Add the carrot, beans, black salt & saute for 2-3 minutes. Add the dal, chaat masala, garam masala, jeera powder, aamchur & mix well. Let it slightly cool & shape into tikkis. Cook in a hot pan with some oil till golden brown & crispy on both sides. Serve hot with green chutney & onions & dig in.!
