  • Great recipe! It looks delicious 😋

  • I use smoked Ham Hocks , cook them and debone them using only the meat and broth they cooked in. Then rice , not a whole lot but enough to know it's there. One large Onion diced , several stalks of Celery diced. The main ingredient is a 16oz bag of dried black eye peas reconstructed or the same amount of fresh ones if you are that lucky. Don't forget the salt and pepper to taste. Make sure to have some fresh cornbread to go with the Hoppin John , I like some grape jelly with my corn bread. I'm 81 and as far back as I can remember that is the New Years meal for each one including the one in 2025.

  • Hi Andrea! I’ve never heard of Hoppin John’s before. It sounds delicious! We all love rice. I don’t think we’ve ever had black eyed peas either. Thanks for this! We will definitely try this. Have a great New Year!🎉💃
