Vegetarian Mincemeat Recipe ~ Noreen’s Kitchen

Vegetarian Mincemeat Recipe ~ Noreen’s Kitchen

I have had so many requests for mincemeat pie that I had to make mincemeat. When you go to the store to buy this it is absurdly expensive for what is in it and you get the added bonus of ingredients you may or may not enjoy. This mincemeat is super easy to make with ingredients that are readily available at the market.

Traditionally brandy is called for in this recipe. I did not have any on hand so I used Cointreau and orange liqueur and it tastes amazing!

You can choose to add to or take away from this recipe. I plan on making other versions of this delicious holiday treat in the future!

I hope you give this recipe for mincemeat a try and I hope you love it. I will be using the mincemeat in some other recipes to come soon to my channel!

Happy Eating and Happy Holidays!

  • Homemade mincemeat is elite. I haven't bought it for years, always homemade. No comparison. Looks lovely.

  • Can you can this recipe? I am not too sure to keep in the fridge. I can’t find a recipe to can this.

  • Major MSMR in this video. My mouth was watering hearing the sound of all that delicious-ness as she stirred all that goodness.

  • Will you do a video on how to can this up? I would love to have some in pantry for different recipes. This looks awesome and I'm sure it will taste amazing.

  • Great! After many years have gone by since i last had my grandmother's homemade minced meat pie…and now more of a vegetarian ( not fully tho) i was hoping to find a meatless recipe to make for the new generations of my family…which is becoming so large in numbers…and hopefully pass this holiday tradition onto the future generations of my family 👪 👍👍😋😋 hoping to find a few that enjoy minced meat pie as much as i did as a child myself! 👍👍😉😉

  • No Brandy…no problem; apple cider vinegar and soy sauce… problem solved!
Has discussed in this video the alcohol bakes off and the flavor is what remains (outside some in the rehydrated fruit). I find that soy sauce has been a wonderful emergency replacement for vanilla extract, expreso, and other forms of "dark bitters", this recipe shouldn't (and wasn't) any different. To replace the fruity notes or flavors found within the Brandy was substituted with the fruity notes in apple cider vinegar.
Thought I would share this recipe hack!

  • This is one of our favorite holiday pies! Thank you for an awesome recipe!

  • I can not wait to try this. I use to make green tomatoes mincemeat

  • Noreen: I need to learn knife skills so I can cook healthy from scratch. Would you be willing to teach basic knife skills and other basic skills to allow one to live cooking healthy and from scratch? Thank you.

  • Noreen, the way you explain why to do things a certain way is refreshing.

  • How did you cube the Granny Smith apples? Knife skills or a special tool?

  • I made a similar mincemeat years ago, it was made with green tomatoes apples and the rest of the ingredients  you have . then I canned it up

  • Thumbs up

  • Hi Noreen, I love all your videos. I had no idea what mincemeat was. I always just thought it was something gross. this looks delicious. Thank you for opening my eyes to so many things in your videos. I really learn learn a lot from your videos. I appreciate it. I was wondering, what would you suggest as far as tools for kitchen? I heard you said restaurant supply store. What would you purchase from there for your kitchen?

  • wonderful Noreen love this recipe great job on researching this recipe i can not wait to try it thanks again much love Mary

  • My mom and aunts made and canned mincemeat at the end of the harvest season, using green tomatoes put through the grinder, apples, currants, raisins, sugar, spices, vinegar, and a very small amount of suet. Mincemeat is my absolute FAVORITE pie.

  • Interesting and excellent timing. My sister can't eat mincemeat as she has gout.  She has to limit her intake of beef otherwise suffers terribly; this may be an option. I made green tomato mincemeat years ago and it was good too. Now you have me thinking of mincemeat tarts, mincemeat matrimonial cake, mincemeat in six week refrigerator muffins (just a good tablespoon or two for flavour)…

  • Would this be save to can?

  • It's not mincemeat without the meat! LOL I'm sorry vegans…..this old boy was raised on meat in our mincemeat. We always made it when we butchered hogs and that was many, many times a year. Still love to butcher and make the mincemeat pies. Great video!

  • Okay. Thanks for the recipe, anyway. Fresh is best!

  • I can't wait to see what you bake with this! I love it !!!! Been looking for an easy to make minced meat for years. I came across one that called for diced green tomatoes a long time ago but I didn't like it and no one else did either. Thank you so much. Oh Yes, that pecan pie of your's, yummmmmmmmmyyyyyyy!!!!!!

  • very nice veggie version of mincemeat 🙂

  • this would technically be mince, rather than mincemeat.

  • Stir a lil mincemeat through vanilla ice cream. Yummy.

  • Noreen, you are now my Queen!!!! My father loved loved loved minced meat pie and he got me hooked on it as well. This looks AMAZING!!!

  • Thank you thank you thank you
I wanted to make this but when I found out it was 'processed' I just thought forget it….
    I'm so happy😸
