Jese juicers contacted me and asked if I would do a demonstration of their slow masticating juice extractor. I have been using a juicer for years and was excited to get to try one of these styles with the auger. I had heard that they were more efficient at extracting all the juice, micronutrients and antioxidants from fruits and veggies. I thought it would be fun to make a homemade version of a vegetable juice cocktail. Ours ended up being green, but it tasted just like V8, only a little better! This is going to hold a regular spot on my counter for more juicing and even more tasks!

V8 juice is something I grew up with. It is what everyone knows either from a can or a bottle. We use it in cooking and for drinking. Makes great bloody Mary’s and beers. But It is highly processed and heat treated, which kind of makes the nutrition plummet. Being able to make your own with fresh raw veggies is a great way to get those nutrients back not to mention the antioxidant properties of those fruits and veggies.

The 8 vegetables found in V8 juice are lettuce, spinach, tomato, carrot, celery, beet, watercress and parsley, I changed mine up a bit because on the day I shopped for this cocktail my grocery store was out of parsley and there was no watercress to be found. So we made up our own version. I started with a couple of cucumbers then carrots, celery, spinach, lettuce golden beets and the greens along with a heart of romaine and a whole lemon.

This juicer rose to the challenge with fleet aplomb. This thing is amazing and the waste waste was very dry. You could actually dehydrate that and grind it into a powder to add to soups and stews or even sprinkle on popcorn for added nutrition. You could also add it to your pet’s food or add it to your compost for use in gardening.
This juice was delicious and the juicer was great!

I was impressed at what the juicer could do. This has two separate screen attachments, one very fine and one larger. The large one can be used for making ground meats, or even homemade sorbet from frozen fruit. You can take it a step further and add cubes of frozen cream or non dairy milk replacer such as coconut or almond milk to make an instant fruit ice cream. You can make smoothies with this as well.

It cleans up easy. I do recommend that you add a cup of water to the machine when you are done to flush out all the particles to make clean up easier and be warned, the screen will need to be washed by hand It needs some special attention to be sure that you remove all the vegetable particles. A stiff brush can help you do this. The maker provides a nifty rack that you can place everything on to air dry it for your next use.

I plan on using this again soon to share how to make a blended fruit juice like a V8 twister. Then we will have to put it to the test grinding chicken and then also making some of that fruit sorbet! I can’t wait to get going on those! If you have questions, let me know in the comment section and I will be happy to try and answer them for you.

If you think this is something that will benefit and enhance your life, then please use the link above to check out the juicer and see what it is all about.

I hope you try it and I hope you love it!

Happy Eating!
